Where Are Your Rugs Made?
Love My Horse partners with reputable suppliers to offer a broad selection of high-quality rugs at the most competitive prices. Many other Australian equestrian brands source from the same suppliers, ensuring consistency and reliability across our product range.
Size Guidance
Our rugs feature a generous chest overlap for flexible adjustment. They measure true to the label size at the tightest setting and can extend to nearly one full size larger. If you’re unsure which size is best, we recommend reading our article "What Size Rug Does My Horse Need?" or emailing us at lovemyhorserugs@gmail.com for personalized assistance.
Returns for Incorrect Size
Please reach out to us before purchasing if you’re uncertain about sizing. If a rug needs to be returned for an exchange:
- It must be clean, unused, and in its original packaging.
- Return shipping costs are the buyer’s responsibility.
- Wet or dirty rugs cannot be accepted due to hygiene reasons.
Denier Ratings
Denier (D) indicates fabric thickness and durability. For example:
- 600D weighs 600 grams per square meter.
- 1200D weighs 1200 grams per square meter.
A higher Denier means a tougher, more durable rug. Warmth, however, depends on the fill or insulation, not on the Denier rating itself.
Choosing the Right Warmth Factor
Selecting the right rug warmth depends on your local climate, how much coat growth you wish to prevent, and your horse’s age and weight. As a general guide:
- 300g fill: Ideal for cold winters when maximum warmth is needed.
- 100g or 200g fill: Suited to milder winter conditions.
- Rainsheet (no fill): Offers rain protection without restricting coat growth.
For variable weather, consider having multiple rugs on hand so you can swap them out as conditions change.
Cotton & Mesh Rug Uses
Cotton and mesh rugs are perfect for:
- Hotter climates: They allow breathability and UV protection.
- Preventing coat fading: They shield the coat from strong sunlight.
- Avoiding rain scald & insect irritation: They protect against biting flies and other pests, especially in tropical regions.
- Keeping your horse clean: Great for travel, competitions, and quick drying if they get wet.
Returns for Size or Color Changes
If you need a different size or color:
- Return the rug in its original, clean, and unused condition.
- You are responsible for return shipping costs.
- Wet or dirty rugs cannot be accepted for hygiene reasons.
Washing Your Rug
Love My Horse rugs are machine washable in cold water. For the best results:
- Remove leg straps and securely tie surcingles.
- Use a gentle (wool) cycle and avoid harsh detergents or bleach.
- Add a mild disinfectant if desired.
- Hang to dry thoroughly before storing for the next season.
